The Xbox Series X has been out for almost three years now and talk about an Xbox Series X Digital Console is hotting up.

Microsoft are always proactive in creating new products and ensuring gamers get the best experience and the leaks and rumours of a new Xbox console are ticking all those boxes.

But what would be the need for a new Xbox console and how valid are the claims?

Here’s what we know about the Digital Console version of the Xbox Series X.

Xbox Series X Digital Console Release Date

Shpesal Nick of the XboxEra Podcast revealed that Microsoft is planning more “Xbox hardware for 2025”.

Leaks And Rumours

According to Shpeshal Nick of the XboxEra Podcast, Microsoft is currently planning to release a digital-only version of the Xbox Series X.

This rumoured console looks like Microsoft is planning a mid-generation refresh of the console, somewhat similar to how Sony is planning a detachable disc drive version on the PlayStation 5.

Whilst little information was provided about it, some brief speculation claimed that the revision could make the console smaller and lighter.

Effectively, it sounds like we’re getting Microsoft’s version of an Xbox Slim.

Price

We’re predicting this console may cost £300-400, we believe £350 would be a sweet spot for it.

While we can’t be 100% sure what the cost of this console will be, we can be sure it will cost more than the Xbox Series S (as it will harness the power of the Xbox Series X, but have no disc drive like the Series S).

The Xbox Series X is currently retailing for around £475, while the Xbox Series S is £250.

If the disc drive is removed, it would reduce the production and shipping costs

Will There Be Exclusive Games?

While games like Hogwarts Legacy 2 could benefit from a stronger performing console, moving away from the older generation, it’s not likely to have exclusive games.

Those gaming on older Xbox consoles will still be able to enjoy all the same games, including those on PC.

Xbox Series X Digital Console Specs

Given the information we have, we’re not expecting the Digital Console to have any difference in terms of specs. If there is a difference, it will likely be small changes to help with the quality of life.

As it’s a digital-only console, it may come with bigger internal storage (eclipsing the 1TB the original Xbox Series X has).

We may potentially get a few more ports to help with external devices.

Without the disc drive, the console will likely be smaller and lighter.
