Hogwarts Legacy is one of the greatest games of this century and is beloved by gamers, so it would undoubtedly excite witches and wizards to see Hogwarts Legacy 2.
The exciting open world that features in this game could be coming back for a second run with more aspects, content and stories.
Here’s what we know about Hogwarts Legacy 2.
Hogwarts Legacy 2 Release Date
There is no release date for Hogwarts Legacy 2 at this time.
Given the original took five years to develop, this may not arrive for some time.
However, the base of the game is there, it wouldn’t necessarily need as much time to develop unless it got the Zelda treatment.
Breath of the Wild took a considerable amount of time to create and its sequel came out 6 years later, due to the amount of new content and polish that was included.
Is Hogwarts Legacy 2 Confirmed?
A few fans recently spotted a potential clue to the sequel, coming in the form of a job listing by Warner Bros. Games.
Although not overtly mentioning Hogwarts Legacy, the does invite candidates to “join the team behind the blockbuster open world, action RPG Hogwarts Legacy as we create what’s next.”
The job post points to Avalanche Software recruiting for roles such as an Associate Software Engineer and a Senior Character Technical Artist.
The listing highlighted a requirement for experience with Unreal Engine 4, the same engine behind the original Hogwarts Legacy.
However, many have moved over to Unreal Engine 5, potentially meaning this is just recruitment for possible DLC.
Depending on the long-term plans of Warner Bros and Avalanche Software, we could see the sequel arrive on next-gen platforms exclusively.
It’s clear the newer consoles aren’t being utilised to their full potential as the game still needs to work for older consoles.
While the heart of the game’s fanbase is likely more casual gamers, perhaps not owning the newer consoles, they may opt to create a sequel that still works on the older generation of consoles.
What’s The Story For Hogwarts Legacy 2?
The next story could go in any direction, we don’t expect the original protagonist to continue in the sequel unless the game significantly expanded.
It’s a great opportunity to expand the Harry Potter universe, filling in gaps between the Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter films.
