An extra Community Day is coming in Pokemon GO during July, that’s right, this month features TWO Community Day events!
While the Pokemon GO calendar is very busy with lots of events taking place, Community Day is always a staple event to mark each month.
Last month, players enjoyed a beautiful time in the sun with Axew. While we’ve got some time before the official July Community, we get to enjoy a Community Day Classic Event featuring Squirtle!
So what can we expect this year? Here’s all you need to know about the July 2023 Community Day Classic in Pokemon GO.
Release Date
The July 2023 Community Day Classic will take place on the 9th of July 2023.
This event will occur from 2PM-5PM local time.
July 2023 Community Day Classic Pokemon
July’s Community Day Classic will feature Squirtle.
Squirtle, when it is evolved into Blastoise, Squirtle’s final evolution, will learn a new unique charged attack called ‘Hydro Cannon’.
It will do 80 power in Trainer Battles and 90 power in Gyms and Raids.
There will also be a higher chance of catching a shiny version of Squirtle or the unique Pokemon that is featured on that day.
Squirtle-themed Field Research will also be available! Catch Squirtle to earn an encounter with Squirtle wearing sunglasses.
Event Bonuses And Rewards
You can expect the following Event Bonuses:
- 3x Stardust for catching Pokemon
- 2x Candy for catching Pokemon
- 2x Chance for Trainer level 31 and up to receive Candy XL from catching Pokemon
- 1/4 Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed in an Incubator during the event period.

After the three-hour Community Day event ends, Trainers can take on unique four-star Raid Battles featuring the Pokemon’s second evolution (if it is Squirtle, we will see Wartortle). Claiming victory in one of these raids will cause more of the featured Pokemon to appear around the Gym that hosted the raid for 30 minutes! This will occur from 5PM-10PM local time.
Players can also get event-themed stickers by spinning PokéStops, opening Gifts, and purchasing them from the in-game shop.

A unique Field Research will also be available for the event to earn rewards such as additional encounters with the featured Pokemon, Stardust, Ultra Balls and more.
